    that was totally awesome, right on point. I remember when i first started my consulting company how I had to deal with these exact same situation, clients trying to get $100K worth of work for $100 (I even had one admit once that they wanted a million dollars worth of work but could only pay 30 grand).

    Eventually, when we were not so cash strapped, we refused to even give fixed price/time estimates. We went to a “you pay for the first 2 weeks of dev work up front, after the 2 weeks is up if you like what we’ve been doing then you keep paying us every 2 weeks for the time we spend on your project”. Believe it or not this actually worked and all of our clients paid up in advance, with open-ended projects, and never complained.
